How to Make Money From Home – Three Ways to Supplement Your Income

I’ve been working in my socks. Well, what do you expect – it’s cold in my living room! I haven’t worked a day outside my house in almost a year. What’s my secret? Information. Let me share with you three ways you can bring in some dough without even standing up.

1. Advertise on the web. Television advertising is expensive these days, and businesses aren’t taking it anymore. Ordinary people can now bring in some of those advertising dollars by hosting their own website and linking it to an online merchant. Amazon got everyone’s attention with this successful and low-cost technique in 1997, and now it’s all the rage. Just click on the affiliate links you see all over the web to learn more about a particular site’s program – or better yet, join an affiliate management program that has a lot of connections.

2. Be a writer. Do you speakum English awful good? Good news – you can go to freelance sites like GetAFreelance and Elance to find work. You’ll find people offering one-shot gigs as well as long term employment opportunities. Want to write a children’s song? Yesterday on Elance, I found a poster looking for someone to do just that. On GetAFreelancer, I found a guy that wants me to help him with his movie idea. I even found someone who needs brochures written for – ahem – adult products… Whatever your genre, there’s something right for you.

3. Play poker. Online poker has grown exponentially in the last decade. They have poker shows on the Travel Channel, ESPN and even pay-per-view. There’s not enough room for me to delve into poker strategy here, but 2 + 2 Publishing has a great site with forums and resources about every facet of the game. For playtime, there is a site called PurePlay that offers free shots at the World Series of Poker (for U.S. players only.) FullTilt and PokerStars are the two online poker giants, and they both still accept customers from every part of the globe. Tournaments and cash games are going around the clock, with buy-ins ranging from $0 – $10,000.

Losing my job last year ended up being a blessing in disguise. I’ve never been happier, and I owe it all to my computer. Just when I thought I couldn’t do it, I found other ways to make ends meet and I haven’t looked back since. Don’t let your doubt stop you from being a winner.
